Shipping large items by sea

Not everything needs a whole container. Single large pieces — a sofa, a fridge, a TV — can ship by sea on their own. Here is how it works.

How your item is priced

Large items are priced in one of two ways:

• Against our large-item catalog. Common items have a category and size tier with a set price for your warehouse. You see the price in the app.
• By measurement. If your item does not match the catalog, the warehouse team measures it when it arrives and the price is based on its size.

Either way, pricing is confirmed at the warehouse — once your item is received and verified, you will be notified.

Your invoice

When the item is classified or measured, an invoice is raised and appears in the app immediately. Your shipment card will show Awaiting Payment with a pay button, and the invoice also appears in your transaction history. Pay it like any other invoice in the app.

Payment clears it to ship

This is the one firm rule of sea shipping: an item cannot board a voyage until it is paid for. As soon as you pay, your shipment shows as cleared to ship, and it joins the next voyage out. Until then it waits safely at the warehouse.

After it sails

From there your large item behaves like any sea shipment — you will see it board, sail, and arrive, with the same tracking and the same delivery process in Ghana. If it was flagged from a container as "ship on its own", the same invoicing and payment steps apply.
